Many of us will be heading to a family beach or lake house for Christmas in just a few short days. There is something about designing these homes that is just a little more fun, a little more heartwarming. Maybe its knowing the hours of laughter and long talks that will take place inside the walls of these getaway places or maybe its just that a vacation home is usually a little less serious than a city home. Either way, I'm a fan and I hope to design more of these special spaces in the new year.
Designer Thom Filicia has shared his lake home in the pages of House Beautiful magazine, and I'm pretty smitten. I've always loved Filicia's layered, textural and happy designs. His lake house feels welcoming and comfortable while still being completely pulled together and sophisticated. Thats a look I like.
